The clinical trial results have been not that impressive. I dont think rTMS will ever achieve the kind of reputation ECT has at treating resistant depression.
My advice is if you dont live within an hour drive of an rTMS test site, dont bother with it. If you live close to a test site, go for it cause the rTMS clinical trials are free. But the effect is transient, doesnt last and its just not worth spending a lot of money on hotels and stuff.
Just go have ECT.
