No cure for depression yet among the discoveries of nobel laureates, but maybe there will be some day. Two years ago, the prize in medicing/physiology was given to 3 scientists who discovered how dopamine works in the brain and how synapses change in learning and memory. Maybe there is hope....

Last night, I watched the 4th episode of Secret Life of the Brain, and they did lament that we still do not know what causes depression. It was a good episode--explained the role of the amygdala, etc. in feelings and in PTSD and depression.
Bekka, I used to believe that there was no way my depression would get better, but it has gotten better. Not perfect, and my medication regimen isn't perfect, but I am doing a whole lot better than I was or ever hoped to be.
