I began to get on to the Celexa with 5mgm last Wed (five days ago) and will move up to 10 mgm this coming Wed. eventually reaching 20 mgm by my next pdoc visit in three weeks. How does this compare with the 325mgm of Effexor XR that I was on? Some one told me that they thought that (the 20mgm) was a low dose).

I would reccommend you try to get up to at least 40 mg. I am on 20 mg. and I feel that is doing not much at all. Caffeine dose much more! But, I use it for OCD, so it is different. If my obsessions and compulsions cut down, then I know it is working well. They have quite a bit. It is still mild though in it's action. That is a good thing though, because you can get to a higher dose easier. Good luck to you.

Frankie,Thanks for your reply. I am now up to 10 mgm of Celexa and down to 225mgm or the Effexor xr. The only difference I feel at this point is terrific drowsiness in the late morning and early afternoon. However, I have been on enough antidepressants to know to stick it out. I really hope that the weight comes off once I get off the Effexor -- it has been a nightmare to have gained this much. Thanks again Maria
