Several of those who've been kindly following my saga of switching pdocs and possibly switching all my meds asked why I switched docs to begin with (note: I've since decided to go back to the original pdoc and try tweaking the meds she's got me on) ...
Well, a problem arose with the original pdoc, namely that she was NOT returning my calls, especially ones that were URGENT (I was "in crisis" a phrase she uses).
During one really bad period, I and a family member tried REPEATEDLY to over the course of six days leaving messages and getting NO RETURN PHONE CALL. During another bad time (I was having a very bad reaction to what proved to be too high a dose of Zyprexa) several urgent phone calls for guidance went UNRETURNED.
We decided perhaps it was time to try another pdoc who might be more responsive after we became concerned, frustrated, angry, bewildered, upset and bothered by what was a pattern of the original pdoc not returning calls (she had also failed to return calls in the past, then got *better* but then became non-responsive again).
This business of needing to talk to her on the phone but not getting a response only adds to my already bad anxiety.
What do you folks think of this - have you experienced this kind of problem with your pdoc? Is it reason enough to switch docs?
