Hi,
I am prety new here and I am amazed at the honesty and the support you lend eachother. I would like to ask your opinions on what I need to ask and address with a new Dr if I could.
I have had generalized anxiety for about 8 years now. I was diagnosed after one of my sons became gravely ill as an infant. I have had 3 actual *panic attacks* in my life. Nothing too disabling, simply scary. I take 1.5 mg of klonopin a day and it is under wonderful control.
Low and behold I find out I have ADHD recently. I am 41 years old, and was the *classic kid* with ADHD. I am now the poster Mom for it!
Ok, this is where I need some guidence. I went to a pdoc who put me on Provigil instead of Ritalin or Adderall due to my anxiety disorder, which has been under excellent control. He thought a stronger stimulant would increase my anxiety. Well, I had a full blown real med reaction to provigil that mimicked an anxiety attack, hwoever, it was the drug that made my heart race, Not my mind. I thought it might have been an anxiety attack, but my Doctors have all told me, nope..you had tachicardia and high blood pressure from this med.
I am swithching Dr's because my brand new pdoc never called me before, during or after my hospital stay when I had called him.
What do I ask this new pdoc? Do I stay away from all stimulants? I do not want to go through that again. I am also terrified of wellbutran, since my son has such horrible epliepsy. I am in a succesful marriage, I am a great Mom, I live in a disorganized house, but I do hire housekeepers. I am in a quandry..Do I even bother to try and make this better?
I know many of you are in a worse place than me, I understand. I hope I don't sound like I am complaining. I am so impressed with your knowledge of this field and I will truly appreciate any advice you could give me.
Thank you so much.
