> I had been taking Remeron for one year. After slowly tapering over several months, I finally stopped it altogether twelve days ago. I am still experiencing anxiety and now a return of feeling depressed again. Is this something that given some more time might pass or does it sound like I need to restart the meds??? I would like to be off the meds but has anyone experienced this and then had these feelings resolve? If so how long did it take? Thanks for your help.
First of all : what you've been diagnosed with ? It's not unusual the return of bad depressing feelings after stopping the meds. This can depend from many reasons :
1) You did not take the meds long enough to recover (it can even take more than one year).
2) You have a cronic mood disorder like dysthymia. In this case I'd suggest to keep taking the meds (even for life) with some 1-2 months breaks spread all over the therapy.
3)This is a withdrawal syndrome, but I don't think so, seen that you said you slowly tapered the dosage in months. What i suggest is to resist and wait some 2-4 weeks without taking any med. If you still feel bad like that, the you should restart taking Remeron.
Best luck
