I walked into the doctors office hoping to be treated for depression, anxiety, and possible obsessive compulsive. I was prescribed Wellbutrin 150mg for concentration and focus, Depakote500mg for mood and racing thoughts, and Topamax25mg(increase by 25mg per week til 100mg)for mood and to counteract the weight gain in the Depakote. After a week of the Wellbutrin I was extremely hostile and was taken off of it. It's been two days. I've already noticed a decrease in my motivation. In the week I was on Wellbutrin I couldn't believe how motivated and focused I was. My mind seems to be racing again and seems to be coming back stronger at night. Anyways, I'll get to the questions.
1) How does one classify 'racing thoughts'? My mind seems to never slow down, ie, I think of something, rethink it, think of it again and then go over it once more. During the first week of my medication I seemed to have moments of silence that I enjoyed, was this the wellbutrin, or do I need a higher doseage?
2) Does anxiety always have to be a side effect of depression/bi-polar? that's what I've been told, a lot. That my anxiety is just a side effect. I think my anxiety is more than that. It doesn't keep me locked in doors but I never seem to stop worrying, or find peace, I never seem to be at ease, I get worked up extremely easy, and sometimes I won't do things if it puts me in a compromising situation.
3) Are there other meds out there like Wellbutrin without the hositlity?
4) Are there any sites that offer free online diagnosis? There was one a while ago, but now it costs money.
I feel bad for asking so many questions, I hope I'm not repeating myself. This has been a great outlet for me. When I speak to my mom about it her answer is "Grow up" or "If you want a pill take a sugar pill and pretend it does something"...
