I guess you would prolong it forever if you did every other day forever, but you could adhere to a strict schedule of something less than completely stopped, if withdrawal gets really bad. For example even one every week for a couple weeks would surely ease things just a little, give you a respite of a few tolerable days now and then. Not trying to weaken your resolve, because its admirable, just introducing another option.
