Hi Donna,
Yes, Lamictal did affect my sleep, and several others on the board here have expressed the same problem -- Bekka really had a hard time with the sleep issue, but I'm not sure if she decided to keep taking the Lamictal or not.

For me, I added a small amount of Klonapin at night (0.25 mg) which really helped. I also took a small amount of Serzone (about 50 mg), but that helped the agitation more than the sleep -- the Klonapin really helped me sleep.

Good luck!
Cindy

> I have been on lamictal for a couple of weeks, first on 12.5 mg and now on 25 mg. I have had on and off severe insomnia for several years and have been sleeping poorly since being on lamictal. My sleep med (imovane) hasn't been working at the usual dose so I'm wondering if anyone has found lamictal to affect their sleep, either helping or making it worse. During the day I am so exhausted from lack of sleep (and possible side effect of lamictal) that I can barely function. For those who lamictal caused insomnia did it go away in time or with increased dose of lamictal? BTW I have dysthymia, possibly cyclothymia, fibromyalgia, sleep disorder, previous panic disorder, GAD and have tried a couple of dozen meds in the last several years.
