How to get someone to advocate for themself

My cousin just recently flunked out of college for the second time, manic depression runs in the family. I have it and didn't get help until I ceased to function. I don't feel like I can push the issue on her but I know what living without meds. is like. I will be seeing her in 2 weeks and I need some advice. Anyone have some words of wisdom for me?
