I was put on 0.5 of Clonazepam/Klonopin in 08/0 and it is a benzo and addictive and I was originally put on it for insomnia. The tolerance thing hooked me at about 6 month intervals so by 11/01 I was on 2 mg. Then the doctor left and the new doc I saw upped me to 4 mg. beliving I was bi polar and then he had a massive stroke (very sad) and the doc they gave me only could talk over the phone (this was end of 11/01) and his first appointment was 09/2002!! And refused to take me off of it and said it was this or Depakote ... I had several conversations with him, then finaly had it refilled but too little to late I have two night of total sleep deprivation and wham I had a seizure. It caused (and causes since I am back on it with an anticonvulsant: tegretol/carbabmazepine) behavior changes and one of them was definitely depression I had to go on Wellbutrin SR (150 2X a day) -- which worked until the tegretol undid the wellbutrin (and on the tegretol you can't go on other tricylics while being on tegretol). I have read the 6 weeks is considered the marker for long term -- so I was long term -- but NO ONE told me that I could have a seizure (they call it a provked seizure) if I just stopped taking it.

Just my 2sense (Sue)
