Geno,
It's been a long time (about five years) since I took desiprimine, but I distinctly remember a problem when I switched from Norpramin (brand name) to the generic desiprimine.
In fact, I'm considering a trial again of the Norpramin, because I'd had a good initial response to it. Then the pDoc prescribed the generic, and it wasn't a good experience. I can't recall the exact specifics, but I do remember physical symptoms of anxiety which hadn't been a problem prior to that.
It always costs more, but you might talk to your doctor about trying the brand name version. I happen to think there's a definite difference.
FWIW,
Laurie> Desipramine has been mind boggling for me. My pdoc says its good for sleep and anxiety, but it seems to boost more norepinephrine. Im not panicy on it, but i feel a tingly sensatioin through my head and raised heart rate. No social phobia benifits. I think adderal/ritalin or dexadrine are better for social states than desipramine. I dont like my heart racing, esp when working out.
