Either way, many side effects go away after a couple of weeks. Some others stay, and you have to do with (e.g.: constipation, night sweats, bruxism,...). It's no fun, but it's normal. If you know about it, you won't worry as much as someone who's clueless as to what's happening to them. It's probably worth going through to stop smoking anyway.
