Hi,
Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble. I think someone already posted his web address but if not here it is...
www.drjensen.comYou asked if I have thyroid problems and the answer is I have all the symptoms and have had my thyroid gland swell but labs always come back in the "normal" range. So, my other drs have pretty much told me its all in my head. Maybe it is, but I'm feeling much less fatigued on the thyroid meds.
I can't tell you that Dr. Jensen is the only doc to see or that his approach is the only way. I will tell you that he's the best pdoc I've found. There are a number of reasons why I like him. He's willing to look at ALL my symptoms without dismissing half of them as "in my head". He's willing to discuss the reasoning behind a certain treatment choice. He gives me some control over my medications - if it makes me miserable stop taking it, compare these two meds and decide which one works best, etc. Also, I like the idea of comparing different medications. In my experience, the medications that helped started to make me feel better within a few days and the ones that made me really sick to start with never got better. I agree that side-effects often diminish with time and it can take a while for a medication to have its full effect. But, by allowing me to compare different meds, the idea is to a) find the BEST match and b) garner more information from how I react so that he can narrow down the choices.
I like him and his approach. However, that is my opinion and experience and I'm sure there may be others who feel differently. I'm on synthroid (T4) right now and testing tofranil (which seems to be working well so far). I'll let you know as things progress.
Best of luck to you in finding a great pdoc.

Do you know if he has a web site or how I could contact his office, I've been going through hell for over a year now and if it were possible would be prepared to travel to the States if I thought it would help.
