In my case, I have beleived for a long time
that the cortisol is the source of my depression
and not a symptom. Stress reduction just doesn't work infact the consious effort to reduce stress often enhances it. SSRI's work but I often thought of trying a beta blocker instead (though I've heard they can cause depression - I'm thinking they prob cause atypical) I don't feel anxious in my head - no impending sence of doom really just an oferwhelming surge of stomach juice and heart starts pounding)
