Hi there. I usually take Lamictal (for mood stabilization) and Remeron (to keep the depression away), but the one that REALLY calmed down the irritability and hostility was adding a small dose of Zoloft each morning. I take 25 mgs. (which is not near a regular AD dose of Zoloft). I have found it is just enough to calm me down and it helps things roll of my shoulders MUCH easier. Without it I find I am a raw emotional wound, up and down and crying at the drop of a hat. It's amazing what 25 mgs. of a certain med can do. I didn't like the benzos at all, they didn't help much with anxiety and seemed to make my depression flair up. I tried Paxil and Luvox (both too sedating for my taste). Maybe you could try one of the calming AD's that target anxiety/rage/etc. I talk to alot of people that have good luck with Seroquel or Risperdal for anxiety and rage too. I also take a small dose of Risperdal, it does help take the edge off but not as well as the Zoloft.
