Effexor sleepiness

Hi. I just started 'regular' effexor yesterday- dr. will probably put me on the 'extended version' if this one works for me.
I felt like I took a sleeping pill, otherwise I felt fine on it. No agitation or anxiety, but a very dry mouth. I couldn't stay awake- had to sleep! Today, still sleepy. Does this incredible sleepiness go away?
