I spent about a year and a half on Effexor. Liked it overall. I had a love-hate relationship with its stimulating effect though, found the epinephrine component increased my energy level, but also made me more physically anxious. Moreover, you had to take a moderately high dose to get the serotonin component to kick in.
In switching to celexa, I found it was much more subtle than effexor and much more euphoric, producing a good affect without the physical stimulation. If you're prone to somnolescence, it won't be as good as effexor, but at the same time, celexa has the least side effects of any of the SSRIs, so it shouldn't be too jarring. Overall, you'll probably get a good response. I've never really been good at gauging whether a med has lost its effectiveness or whether its just environmental factors involved, however, I don't think you'll ecounter too much of a 'poop-out'(there's gotta be a better term than that) from taking celexa.
