About 1 out of 4 people on an SSRI get it to do what they want, according to this article I read on a Harvard medical site. It could be false.
Anyway, I didn't get any effect from 6 months of it. Even high doses of Buspar didn't work, although I've since learned Buspar has very few friends... appears to help very few.
My doc said no one knows how it will work on you until you work with it- there's no definitve answer to your question. Unfortunately, we live in a culture that believes that animal tests can derive all of our facts, and that we are universally effected through every side effect. That's not true. What didn't work for me, Celexa, could very well "cure" your anxiety. More power to you if it does. You could try every SSRI, and maybe they won't work. Maybe one would. It doesn't mean anything to me or anyone else if that happens, because I could get different results.
I wish it was simpler, I wish the Paxil ads that convinced me to get on Celexa and see a doc was going to cure my anxiety. Several times, it proved to not do a single thing.
