People with carcinoid tumors can have bouts of over-production of serotonin. Usually this would cause sudden problems such as severe flushing and sudden massive diarrhea, together at the same time. Carcinoid tumors are incredibly rare.

What particular symptoms of the serotonin syndrome are of concern? Maybe there are other causes besides serotonin?
