In reply to Wellbutrin and Crystal Meth -- dangerous??, posted by sk8rigid on August 26, 2002, at 19:56:38
I always try to keep up to date on which recreational drugs are ok with what medications for my own personal, uh, curiousity. Anyway, I couldn't find anything constraining the use of amphetanine or any CNS stimulant drugs with Bupropion. Here's something interesting I read:

Dopamine uptake inhibitors block long-term neurotoxic effects of methamphetamine upon dopaminergic neurons.
Marek GJ, Vosmer G, Seiden LS.
Department of Pharmacological and Physiological Sciences, University of Chicago, IL 60637.
A single large dose (100 mg/kg, s.c.) of methamphetamine (MA) is known to exert neurotoxic effects on dopaminergic neurons. The potency at which a series of dopamine (DA) uptake inhibitors blocked MA-induced neostriatal depletions (amfonelic acid (AFA) much greater than mazindol (MAZ) greater than or equal to bupropion (BUP) greater than benztropine (BENZ)) was similar to their potency at blocking 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) neurotoxicity in rats. Amfonelic acid was able to block long-term neostriatal DA depletions when given 8 h, but not 16 h, after a single large MA dose. These results suggest that an intact and functional DA uptake site is necessary for the development of MA-induced long-term DA depletions.

Hmmmmmmmmm........ Also apparently Wellbutrin reduces craving for Amphetamine:-----------------------------------------------
Bupropion for amphetamine withdrawal syndrome.Chan-Ob T, Kuntawongse N, Boonyanaruthee V.
Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand.
This study was a case report of an amphetamine abuser who came to see doctor because of amphetamine withdrawal syndrome three days after stopping prolonged use of amphetamine. The patient was treated him with a slow-release bupropion at the dose of 150 mg per day. After taking bupropion, his withdrawal symptoms i.e. dysphoric mood, fatigue, somnolence, and psychomotor retardation gradually disappeared within two to three days. Moreover, his craving for amphetamines was absent. The authors discussed the possible application for the clinical use for amphetamine abusers or dependence.

----------------------------------------------I don't condone the use of Meth; it's a personal thing for me as it destroyed a few of my close friends. Don't forget these drugs are both stimulants and can excacerbate heart coniditions or hypertension, and may act synergistically. If you're intent on using these two together, experiment slowly and incrementally. I advise you use wisely and with caution.
