KIA,
I wouldn't worry if I were you. You have something that is working for you, after two SSRIs that didn't. Only some people have difficulty in getting off effexor, and even if that happens, I still believe it's well worth it, since it has been so effective for you. Adding prozac as they taper off effexor has helped many people get off the drug easier, because it has a longer half-life.
It's just a difference of opinion about effexor as the first AD to try.
