Dr. Bob or other experts: low dose MAOI and diet

I have been curious about something for awhile: Isn't it conceivable that one could take low doses of irreversible MAOIs (e.g., for maintenance) w/o having to follow the rigid dietary restrictions?

For instance, if one has inhibited 70% of MAO, I don't see why the remaining 30% wouldn't be plenty to metabolize the potentially dangerous pressor amines. This would of course require careful monitoring and blood work...

My thinking is that perhaps a therapeutic response often requires a near 100% inhibition of MAO. Is this generally the case?

Just to be clear, responses to this post will not be construed by me as any sort of medical advice, etc...
