You're absolutely right in finding benzophobia unacceptable. It's been shown time and time again that benzos are highly effective at treating anxiety and quite safe. Find a psychiatrist who is more interested in your wellbeing than frightened of law suits.

What is your diagnosis and are you on Seroquel as monotherapy? Usually atypical AP work, if they are going to work, in fairly short order, days to a few weeks. Let has have some more details and we can probably come up with some good advice.
You will get better, it just takes time and perseverance.
