In reply to Current Effexor Withdrawal - It Sucks, posted by AnneL on October 27, 2002, at 0:32:15

Reading this thread was an eye-opener for me. I was just switched from Effexor to Paxil without any break or weaning off the Effexor. My doc said that I didn't need to wean off it if I was switching. Well, the Paxil (or the switching) did not sit well with me so I stopped after 2 days and I experienced some of the same things as I've read here. Boy, was I miserable for a couple of days! I went back to a half dose of Effexor for two nights then started taking half doses of Zoloft (that I had leftover from before the Effexor) which seemed to take the edge off. (I had stopped taking Zoloft because of the numbing effect which now sounded pretty appealing.)So I think there may be something to taking another SSRI to relieve the withdrawal symptoms of the Effexor. I had never had any problem with withdrawal on anything before, but Effexor was a different story. I don't think I'm over it yet but I'm more hopeful and not quite as miserable. Good Luck to you!

Kathy
