That's exactly the point this article is making and my reason for posting it. I fired the last psychiatrist for attempting to give me the "Lexapro" speil, as if I had no knowledge of the research.
The same thing has happened in the GYN world with the over use of the popular Prem-Pro and Prem-Phase, combination hormone replacment (which women are now clamoring to get off of) rather than prescribe a tailored HRT regimen, which I struggled to get and finally did get from my doc.
I'm concerned that too patients are receiving what is "popular" and what is being currently hyped, rather than what is best for them. It also seems too many are too ready to go with what the doc tells them as gospel rather than be an informed consumer.
