> SebastianHi:
I think it is *great* you are looking out for your grandfather. TOO much of society seems to somehow accept depression with old age. I understand seniors are one of the most highly undertreated of all mental health patients. It is not *normal* for anyone, no matter what age, to accept sky-rocketing anxiety and depression into their lives.
Anyhow..a low dose benzodiazepine may do the trick with the Paxil. My Dad is 65, and takes a small daily dose of bromazepam (not available in the U.S..but in Canada). He is also on 200mg's of Doxepin at bedtime for depression, anxiety, and insomnia. He has been on these meds for about 7 years, with great results.
I don't know if I would bother with the Buspar, as the benzo's seem much more reliable in treating anxiety along with the Paxil.
Best wishes to you both..
Jay
