Homeostatic processes in the brain?

Posted by Squiggles on November 19, 2002, at 11:10:57

Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any homeostatic
processes in the brain that relate to affective
states? It just seems to me that depression,
especially manic depression is like a pendulum
swinging back and forth towards an equilibrium;
it felt that way.

It got me thinking that if there are such
mechanisms for temperature, hormonal releases,
etc., that maybe there are also similar ones
for a stable mood.

Anyone know of articles that might deal with this
approach?
