How was he doing while on Serzone only in terms of anxiety and depression? If he was feeling ok, I would think that he should stick to Serzone.
Serzone can cause liver problems in some people. However I beleive that the liver problems start early in treatment. If your husband has gone 4 years without liver problems, then I don't think that he will develop any due to the Serzone.
Maybe there could be liver problems with the addition of Lipitor, If that turns out to be a problem, maybe the doc could switch him to Pravachol or some other cholesterol drug.
I'm not a doctor but that is my impression. All I know is that if your husband was sufficiently helped with the Serzone, don't assume that he can switch to a different antidepressant and have similar success.
