Whenever you see your GP or psychiatrist, always be sure to have them check your BP- make it a routine request.

As for teeth clinching, this is common. Adderall is an amphetamine, and an amphetamine is, um, well, an amphetamine. For me, it went away after a few days, and it will probably do the same for you. What you should watch for, and have your dentist check for as well, is nighttime teeth grinding. In a matter of weeks, severe cases can chew down substantial parts of your tooth enamel.

A simple resolution-- a night guard- will stop this. I got one as I ordered my retainer anyway, but if you are tight on cash (they can be a few hundred to mold) you can always go down to CVS and buy the $40 version... although I can't recommend this as better or worse.

Even if the daytime grinding goes away, you could still have nighttime grinding. I actually found out about the grinding before going on meds... you may just be prone to it, and the Adderall aggravates it enough for you to do it in the day as well. I caught it by someone else who woke up to it and told me the next day.

Klonopin should do the trick, or Neurontin, for daytime grinding... or simply switching to Ritalin- have you tried that? I'm not so sure about all this Adderall as a first line treatment stuff. I don't see much difference between it and Desoxyn beyond a methyl group. Not that I don't take Adderall, heh. =)

But seriously, Ritalin's mild stuff, good if it deals with your ADD enough.

And the lung thing- um, amphetamines are suppose to expand the bronchial tubes, not shorten them. Although amphetamine overdose has the symptom of shortness of breath. Sure you're taking the least possible therapeutic dose, or your shortness of breath is diabling in any measurable way? I've noticed sitting down and feeling shorter in the lungs, but not enough to call my doctor over or anything.

As for dry mouth, I'm the master at that. Get Biotene toothpaste and mouthwash. $8 for a bottle of mouthwash, I know, but it does have its bonuses- they actually use real peppermint. Imagine that!

Then get Colgate Phosphur, a brand of flouride rinse. Follow the directions, take it once every night or every other night (can't remember which).

Okay, combining all this with 8-10 glasses of water/day, if you still have a problem with the dry mouth to the point where your breath is so dreadful it's affecting your "quality of life' (as one clinical report termed it) and you're noticing plaque despite 3 brushings and flossings daily along with flouride, then there is a pill for that.

Salagen works, so does Evoxac. It can cause excessive sweating, but most likely it'll cause annoyance sweating-- just enough for you to put up with. If it is excessive sweating, patients are given .5mg of Clonidine. But this is not a pill for those with heart conditions, I should warn you... so do your best to avoid this if possible.

> I am a 30 yr old male very recently diagnosed with ADHD. I have a very innocent heart murmer and borderline hyperthyroidism (both untreated per advice from my doctor. For the last month I have been taking 150mg Wellbutrin XR and 20mg Adderall. Dryness of mouth and grinding of teeth were expected and is tollerable. A few days ago I began experiencing shortness of breath and I feel like I can not fill my lungs with enough oxygen. I also have a dry cough. I did skip breakfast three days ago after taking my meds. I am quite concerned about this and would like to know if anyone has ever experienced this before. Was it because I skipped the meal or is it bigger than that?
