ADD is usually one of the first diagnoses that they give you before you are diagnosed as Bi-Polar. You should find out what type of Bi-Polar your doctor thinks you are as there are various types and not every person who suffers from this illness falls into depressions.Anyways, I'm Bi-Polar 1 with mixed episodes (among other things) and my FIRST diagnosis, like when I was first starting off in school at 4 years old, was ADD. Since then, however, I've managed to get my high school diploma and 2 College Diplomas as well as many various certifications. So that kind of blew up in their faces. Then I was being treated on ADs which would make me manic and that with even the 'slightest' change in my dosage would bring about horrible results. Then one day a friend of mine sent me an article on Bi-Polar Disorder and I'm like, damn... this fits me to a T.
Anyways, there's like 4 different classes of Bi-Polar illness all ranging in intensities and symptoms experienced and which could or could not include ADD as a second illness that you're suffering from along with being Bi-Polar.
