Neurotinin did help alot with extreme aspects of my anxiety, like agitation and also for panick aspects. But, not much for run of the mill, or my Gad, the cognitive side, racing thoughts, worry etc. I know that a betablocker like propranol does good for the physical anxiety and also somewhat for social anxiety, and I've read several places that neurotinin also works somewhat for social anxiety. But of course neurotonin's effect is known to vary from person to person; for some people its amazing and for others its has little effect; the same problem that buspar given for Gad has. Neurotinin is supposed to be more calming than stimulating, that is, its not exactly the most activating drug out there. Afterall its an anti-convulsant that supposedly affects Gaba, though I dont know if it does it in the same way that a benzo would affect Gaba. I certainly felt some forgetfulness and mental confusion in the first couple weeks but I quickly adapted. It may be that in the long run I might have to keep upping my dose. (Though I'm on a pretty low dose anyhow,). If bi-polar is evident, and sometimes bipolar disguises itself as GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), then neurotinin would not be a first-line treatment. Lamictal and lithium consistently gets the best results from bi-polar patients.
I dont know what kind of anxiety you suffer from, I would do some research perhaps, and look at other posts.
