Canadian Health Care: Romanow Speech

Posted by Squiggles on November 29, 2002, at 7:27:08

It looks like Americans are Hobbists (Hobbes-
the Utilitarian philosopher) at heart, and
Canadians believe in Rousseau. Romanow,
in answering the question "why can't people
who want to pay for health care do so" and
thereby insure a private or semi-private health
care system, answers that life has no price
in Canadian national values.

As for pharmaceuticals - generics will be
encouraged, and for mental health, a more
community-oriented, autonomic model is
favoured.
