Be *VERY VERY* careful of some of the garbage you read on the web. There are many websites where people have irresponsibly but up that taking Effexor/Paxil/etc causes this, this, this, this...etc. The ones that come across as the most *shocking* are usually full of bull.

Yes, there are legitimate concerns with these meds, as there are any, but a few of the most common have been withdrawl, personality changes with fast dose increases, and weight gain.

Some of the meds with the most documented use are the older tricyclics. They have side effects also, but they have been used over decades of research. That doersn't mean they are any 'better' or 'worse' than newer meds, though.

Bottom line....be rational. These websites that list that new psych meds cause this, this, and this, don't have scientific research to back them up, and are often written by people with their own agenda (i.e. lawyers, or people looking for someone to blame, etc.)

I wish you best in healing your other ailments...and yes, your mental health can be treated well too.

Jay
