Hello Everyone,

After researching extensively at my own health's cost, I should reveal the fact. If a psychiatric patient is leading a normal life on a benzo monotherapy he is the luckiest.
It is interesting, benzos cause pilot mistakes, murders, accidents.... I wonder how many of our benzo users actually butchered their family and rode their vehicles over pedestrians under the influence of alprazolam and clonazepam. Alcohol can have these devastating effects that can easily be generalized, because of it's common nature. What Squiggles interpreted in one thread is merely an exaggeration of benzo hazards. In 1995 my pdoc told me, prozac is the safest of available antidepressants. Now after evolving a lot, I could hear the confession, "I put you on a very dangerous medication but it was the only way out". But what is the way out of prozac ? No answer.
More and more psychiatrists are becoming aware of hazardous antidepressant therapy. And it is interesting to see more are coming forward with pro-benzo ideas. Benzos experienced a severe set back in early 90s when SSRIs introduced. For the first few years SSRIs showed remarkable superiority over old tricyclics which were much problematic because of their anti-cholinergic and other serious adverse reactions. But soon it became clear that the superiority of SSRIs is only an illusion. Now paxil is suspected to be the most difficult drug to withdraw. Memory loss is being counted as a common side effect of most of SSRIs.... More is expected in the future...
