John, both clonazepam and valium have a long half-life. Clonazepam is, however, much more potent. I have read that some doctors use valium to wean their patients off of other benzos. If you are only on 1/4 mg, it seems that you should be able to discontinue. Have you tried switching to a sedating tricyclic AD such as doxepin and then weaning off of that? This might be something for you to discuss with your physician.
