Mitch: Verapamil

Posted by Jumpy on January 22, 2003, at 21:02:04

Hey Mitch,

Verapamil is a very interesting drug. I have always been fascinated by the mysterous connection between mood disorders and migraine headaches. So often you see both disorders together to one degree or another. And some drugs treat both diseases as well .... for instance depakote is a wonderful medication for both bipolar disorder and migraine headaches .... I don't know why, but it works great for both. SSRIs work for depression and migraines as well.

Verapamil is another one of those drugs. It really does work well for migraine headaches. It reported has been shown effective for panic disorder and bipolar disease. I think it would be a great choice for a med trial. Please keep me updated.

Jumpy

PS Verapamil also can cause constipation, and help relieve GI upset and diarrhea often seen in people with anxiety.
