Hi Babs--
My EPS took the form of ever-worsening jaw tension, which finally resulted in loss of voluntary movement. The only way I could open my jaw was manually--and it took some effort to prise it open with both hands! The last 2 days before I quit Geodon I also experienced random "twitches" in the thigh (quads) of one leg.
However, I am in the high risk group for development of EPS (I found out after the fact); that is, older female who'd had a prior EPS reaction to another drug. Before Geodon, I had not realized that the slight jaw tension I felt when I took Reglan (smooth muscle relaxant, not an AP) was EPS. I only needed R. 3-4times/yr. for esophageal spasms, and took only 1 tab each time. I didn't know that anything other than APs could cause EPS.
The only AP less likely to cause EPS than Geodon is Zyprexa (and, maybe, Abilify). It's not a problem for most, and probably won't be for you.
Good luck!---medlib
