In reply to Effexor (withdrawl) and adding imipramine to it, posted by one_little_victory on February 7, 2003, at 21:51:15
My questions is HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETELY GET OFF THIS MADNESS OF EFFEXOR????? The withdrawals are horrendous. Weened down from 150mg over the course of a month to now taking 37.5mg every other day because it is close to HELL. Does Anyone know how long it takes????? after going off completely??? A sharing of experiences?
thanks.katia> I wanted to say I jumped the gun when some people suggested my nightmares had to do with Effexor withdrawl. I said they didn't and that it was my imipramines fault. Well after some time and going back on Effexor, I do now believe it was Effexor withdrawl...which is about as close to living HELL as can be imagined. I ran to my local medical clinic and got my Effexor refill. So I've added best of both worlds, a small bit of imipramine with a larger Effexor XR dose. The next step will be hopefully to add some type of anti-anxiety, or anti-manic component. I do have some benzos I will use until I see doctor next week. Some either individual or combanation of mood stabalizers and/or atypical antipsychotics, with hopefully continuing benzodiazepine therapy.

> So I guess this post may shed some light in those interested in imipramine, and I think it is a good med to augment with Effeoxr, or your favorite antidepressant. I will keep updates and hope others can find ideas in this.Thankyou. Marc.
