I can certainly empathize with you, I've been wondering the same thing about myself. It is possible for someone to "bury" memories that were so traumatic as to not deal with them later in life, however they might manifest themselves in more harmful ways (cutting, depression, anger, suicidal tendencies, etc.) Unfortunately there also have been many cases of "supposed" regressed memories, inwhich nothing truly ever happened. I guess all I can tell you is what has been told to me...concentrate not on what has/may have happened, but rather focus on what can/may be...
Sounds generic, especially when you're yearning for the truth, or what may have actually happened, but sometimes we can't always find the answers we're looking for. I'm trying to cope with/accept this myself. Good luck to you...
