> I am about to start parnate, an MAOI. (I have taken nearly every anti-depressant drug there is without success!) I am very concerned about developing high blood pressure that could lead to heart problems & stroke etc. I am middle aged, physically very fit and have no heart or B/P problems. I am training for my first marathon in May. (I missed a marathon last fall since my psychiatrist advised against it, for whatever reason.) Since I am somewhat obsessive and/or compulsive, I must always "push the envelope" when working out. Can I still continue my training, long distant running and do the marathon while on MAOI's? Am I playing with fire or just being overly paranoid? Thank you!
I've been on a high dose of Parnate for many years and haven't had any problems with exercise. I can exercise as strenously as I want.
