> Thanks Jane for your input. Yes I've tried Prozac in the past (4 years ago I think) I don't remember it doing anything great for me but I do remember the weight gain. I think most drugs mess with my metabolic rate- well I know Zoloft did for sure. That is why people say that can't lose no matter what they do.
> Did you start on the smallest dose of Effexor and slowly work your way up?? I am so scared to try this drug- but you are right everyone is different and I won't know until I try. I am weening myself off of Lexapro right now so that could affect how I feel too!! I don't know what I should do...maybe just wait and cleanse my body before going to anything else. I am a mess and really don't know what to do. I hate that these drugs have to be a big guessing game. I am glad the Prozac is working for you. Thanks again.I'm not sure you have given Lex a chance to work for you!! I am into week 9 10mg. The first whole month was HELL for me. Had every side effect people complain about. Spent whole second week at home (called in sick to work) in bed or on the couch. Week 4 had some of the worst depressive episodes, made me question if Lex would ever work for me.
This message board and many of it's wonderful members convinced me to stick it out and I AM SOOOO GLAD I DID!!!!!
I can honestly say Lex is WORKING!!! I feel so much better and have not had a deep depression in at least 4 weeks.
So please give your meds a chance to work for you. My Dr. told me at the outset I may not see results for 6 to 8 weeks. That alone was depressing enough to make me not want to even start. Now I am thankful that I did not listen to myself and suffered through all the side effects, which do fade as you go.
