It just ties down my depression and everything else making me tense. It also gives me weird nightmares and I wanna get off of it. I don't know if I need to be taking an anti-psychotic or perhaps a mood stabilizer or a combo of an AP and something else? I don’t think SSRI’s work for me. My depression and anxiety were so bad that I was showing signs of a starting psychosis so I think I might need an anti-psychotic but I don't want to live in a hazy world. Does anyone know if mood stabilizers can help with that and the general symptoms of schizotypal disorder? Are mood stabilizers safer than APs? I appreciate any help.

Hey, two-i.ed Tiina.
i'm not sure if mood stabilizers would be helpful, but i imagine they probably could be. Don't let them overmedicate you with anything though (esp an AP). i do know (er believe) that mood stabilizers are safer for you than APs though. Have you tried a straight SSRI (meaning other than Effexor)? They're supposed to indirectly inhibit dopamine activity, which might be helpful. The Effexor, especially at that dose, increases norepinephrine activity and could therefore be bad for psychosis-like problems.
What's your caffeine intake? This might aggravate symptoms as well. i duno. Good luck.
