In reply to lithium to augment zoloft?, posted by lmarie on April 15, 2003, at 9:09:28

Hi,

I started taking Lithium 8 years ago. My dad is bipolar, so even though I've never been manic they thought it would help. I tried to go off it at some point and it was immediately obvious that I should stay on it. I have taken a number of SSRIs over the years. I took Zoloft for (maybe?) 3 years. They seemed to like each other fine.

My side effects from Lithium that are still active are:

Affects my thyroid, so I take Synthroid every day (not a problem for me)

I've added a couple of drugs in the last 6 months that cause tremors, so that has increased recently (but it is probably due more to the newer drugs). I take Inderal to counteract the tremors. 8 years ago I minded the tremors a lot and took a lot of Inderal, but because it is a blood pressure medication it made me sluggish (I think - it was many years ago...). Now I just take a tiny bit when I am bothered by tremors and everything seems to be fine.

I'm sure there were others in the beginning, but I can't remember this morning, never mind 8 years ago 8^) .

I love my Lithium!
Good luck
