Allergy to tricyclics - but not SSRIs -why?

I've had no problem taking Paxil. But when I've taken Tegretol (which has tricyclic properties) and nortriptyline (a tricyclic) I've got a rash on my arm in the same place. What could be causing the allergic reaction in the tricyclics that isn't in the SSRIs?
