OK, 3 weeks before the holidays I begin weaning off Nardil. 10 days drug-free (except bezos and maybe Lithium) the I start Clomipramine.
I will have to start very slowly - 3 or 4 days on 12.5mg, and maybe with concomitant anxiolytic therapy (ie Buspar maybe). The reason being, Clomipramine made my derealization extremely worse after 25mg last time. But the fact that it makes me initially worse is a good sign - it's just gritting it out (but I'll have my anxiolytics with me)
My rationale for choosing Anafranil...
1. The only clinical trial of a drug for depersonalization syndrome (which I have) is with Clomipramine. This trial, albeit only small, showed Clomipramine was effective for Depersonalization Syndrome.
I have also read positive anecdotal reports of Clomipramine used for this.2. My OCD is very severe, and I need a strong treatment for it. Nardil really is a 3/4th line treatment for OCD. I used Nardil for manly depersonalisation (which it helped) and phobic anxiety (also helped) - I just was very hopeful it would kill OCD - but it didn't (Although it did provide some relief).
My target dose of Clomipramine will (initially) be 175mg - 200mg.Any comments welcome.
Ace.
PS I believe I am making the right decison Clomipramine over Nardil/Zyprexa. I think I really have to explore my options before adding an antipsychotic.
