Supplementing with magnesium glycinate eliminated my usual food/carb/sugar cravings. I went off Zoloft & Provigil the following day, changed my diet considerably to no sugar, no caffeine, no aspartame, no dairy, no glutamates, and no grains by the end of the week -- painlessly. I am taking numerous other supplements including GTF chromium and I have lost 45 pounds in 9 weeks. This has been the easiest weight loss I've ever had. I think the "no grains" is important to reduce those carb cravings. Ever been to Dr. Joseph Mercola's site? He's got a new book out, "The No Grain Diet" but there's also lots of info on his website. http://www.mercola.com/

I found the book "The Cortisol Connection: Why Stress Makes You Fat and Ruins Your Health - And What You Can Do About It"
to be helpful in explaining depression and how it relates to weight gain, stress and cortisol. It was somewhat deficient in getting into female-specific concerns, however.

I've just been reading about natural progesterone and am trying it -- only two days now. I read (can't remember where now) that one thing it does is raise one's body temp (mine is always low) equal to burning 300 calories a day. It also helps the thyroid work properly.
