Okay, let me start by saying that this drug has GREAT cognitive/emotional effects, especially for anxiety & dysthymia. This is my second trial with the drug, and its effects on anhedonia are real. But there are two issues that make me discontinue the drug, one small and the other larger.
DROWSINESS. Daytime drowsiness was especially noticeable when I took my dosage in the mornings, so I switched to nightime doses. Drowsiness decreased, AS LONG AS I got a good night sleep.
CONSTIPATION: This is the killer for me. I get horrible, sharp constipation pains when taking this drug, and even prescription laxative drugs only help a little. Unfortunately, the pain is to a degree where it outweighs the benefits of amisulpride.
VERDICT: Overall a rather effective drug, esp. for people with dysthymia/anhedonia, refractive depression, social anxiety, etc. But the constipation is too much for me. So it looks like I'll be stopping the drug again. But at least I have a hefty supply if I ever want to go back to it. Later!
