Effexor XR (75mg) to Paxil CR (12.5mg)...withdrawl

Posted by Zapped on May 22, 2003, at 11:11:16

After 5yrs. of Effexor XR (75mg.) my Doctor has put me on Paxil CR (12.5mg) because my Medicaid Insurance no longer covers the Effexor XR. Due to relocation within my state of Michigan, my Medicaid Insurance Health Plan had to be changed. Damn HMO's. After this change, my new health plan did not cover Effexor XR so now its on to the Paxil CR. Besides the cying spells, "swishy" head, dizziness, weigt gain, crackling in ears and total fear that this is never going to end, I think I'm doing okay. Whatever that means! All I know, is that this withdrawl hell has to stop. Question is...When? I can't understand how being put on another drug, while still going thru withdrawls from the first drug, is a good thing. Should I stop the Paxil CR (12.5mg) too? I have only been taking the Paxil CR for 3 days, but if I'm going to experience withdrawl symptoms anyway, why not do without both med's? I need help! I don't know how much longer I can handle all of this. I am a mother of 3, engaged at the moment, but think the engagement will end due to the problems I'm having. Its put quite a strain on my children as well as on my engagement. Please, someone, Help me. I've lost so much already, I don't want to lose anymore! When will this hell end?
