Strattera (poor metabolizer) and Constipation

Posted by yeltom on May 25, 2003, at 14:57:22

I've been on Strattera for about a month. I'm only on 18 mg, but I'm also on 60 mg of prozac (which makes me a poor metabolizer), so 18 mg seems to be plenty. My original problems with dry mouth and sleep have become tolerable, but constipation is still an issue. And taking metamucil doesn't seem to help much, and I don't really like the idea of becoming dependent on a laxative. Will this problem eventually go away? Does anyone have any tips? Strattera seems to be giving me an extraordinary amount of energy, drive, and endurance, so I don't want to give it up. Could the problem have anything to do with the fact that I'm a poor metabolizer? Is it possible that 18 mg is more than I need?
